“Finding the right counsellor for you can be difficult, especially if you are LGBTQ, Autistic, ADHD, Disabled, or Vegan. I am all of those. Many counsellors claim to understand these issues, but often you spend half your session explaining these things because they don’t actually understand. Emma is different. Emma genuinely does understand and that means I can spend all my time talking about the issues I want to work on, instead of paying to educate someone who said they already understood.Emma’s counselling style is more self-directed, which is different to those I’ve worked with before. This took some getting used to, but overall I believe it is more suited to my way of thinking. It often feels more like collaborative thinking than traditional counselling. The main advantage is I never get told we aren’t focusing on “that” today, or “let’s stick to the topic of today’s session”. Instead, we talk about whatever I need to talk about, and Emma supports me to do so.I use counselling to process my thoughts without overburdening my friends and family, and Emma provides an excellent counselling service through which to achieve this.”
“The most difficult challenge in therapy for me is being able to open up and talk about myself fully, but since starting with Emma I’ve never found it easier to do so.
They provide such a welcoming and understanding environment whilst navigating myself that it’s allowed me to delve into difficult topics I never thought I’d be able to.
With their guidance and support, I’ve been able to understand myself a lot more and I’m really thankful for how they’ve helped me.”
“Emma is a warm, compassionate and empathetic listener who makes you feel truly seen and understood. I’ve found them to be knowledgeable and very understanding about trauma, dissociation, gender identity, neurodiversity, disability, and family estrangement. Emma approaches complex mental health issues with confidence, validation, and acceptance. Conversations with Emma are easy, supportive, and profoundly reassuring.”
“I’ve had 10 therapy sessions with Emma so far, they have been helpful and show care for my wellbeing. My previous 2 therapists didn’t fit or quite understand my experience of gender and neurodivergence the way Emma does, and I don’t have to explain and defend my thinking to feel seen. Before these sessions I’d been more anxious switching therapists and expecting to not be understood.”
“Emma throughout our sessions helped cultivate a friendly and open space which I was free to explore and get to the root of many issues that I suffered from, including issues that were very complex and sensitive to talk about.
Emma has been brilliant at making sure I never felt shame or judged during the session especially when talking about very heavy topics.
They have been extremely helpful in untangling knots of past traumas to help me recover from them; despite only having a few sessions they have already helped me a lot and I know that they help me for years to come.”
“I’ve been working with Emma for a few months now and can honestly say they’ve made a big difference.
They consistently make me feel comfortable and really listen.Emma’s priority is always my wellbeing, and they will adapt the session to what I’m experiencing and provide a warm, non-judgemental environment where I can be honest.
Whether I come in for something specific or just need to talk, I leave feeling supported and understood. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for caring, effective therapy.”
“I have been working with Emma for a sometime now, and I am continually impressed by their professionalism and compassion.
They create a safe and supportive space where I feel comfortable exploring difficult issues without fear of judgment.
Also, helped me get a better clarity on my situation and cleared my doubts regarding the steps I take.
Each session has given me valuable insights that help me navigate challenges with more confidence and clarity.”
“Emma has been fantastic, they’re always patient with me and provide a safe space for me to talk through my issues, as well as figure out an approach to different situations.”
“I have been working with Emma for around 2 years now and Emma has been nothing short of fantastic. We have worked through a variety of problems in my life, but Emma has always been able to guide me through each problem and help me navigate each scenario. Emma is extremely caring and makes me feel safe enough to address any issue that comes to mind which I really appreciate in a therapist.”
“I can highly recommend Emma as an empathic, open-minded, and understanding psychotherapist. Emma will create a safe space for you to find yourself and her compassionate presence makes all the difference. Anyone seeking a thoughtful, caring, and highly skilled counsellor will be happy to work with Emma.”
“Emma was very quick to understand and reflect back my observations, and in so doing, help me gain greater clarity over my situation. They were also very kind and caring and made me feel safe. I was concerned about talking to someone about my thoughts, but now see how helpful it is.”
“Emma’s relaxed, empathetic and insightful nature has allowed me the space and support to begin to unpick some deep rooted personal issues in a safe and controlled environment.
They have been exceptionally clear and good at communicating around session organisation, note taking and privacy which really reduces the demand on me during and between sessions.
They seem to have a magical memory to recall all that has been discussed previously in a way that gives me total confidence that they can provide meaningful reflection and guide me towards better self-awareness.
This has been particularly helpful since receiving my autism diagnosis, and their genuine yet professional nature makes me feel seen, heard and validated, in a way that I have struggled to find with other therapists.
Above all, they seem to have a really uncanny knack to understand what I need to be pushed on and what I need support with, often before I know myself!”
“Emma put me at ease straight away. I was initially nervous, but her friendly, professional manner allowed me to feel seen and validated. This allowed me to explore difficult issues with relative ease. Months on, I still see the benefits of our sessions and am grateful for her support.”
